South Central Railway to commission Akanpet-Medak railwayline

South Central Railways is set to commission the Akanpet -Medak Railway line in Telangana. The 17.2 kms railway line will connect Hyderabad to Medak and has 3 railway stations – Akanapet, Lakshmapur and Shamanapur. The line will also help Ramayampet, a key mandal town, is just two kilometres away and is famous for manufacture of brass, silverware, wooden furniture and statues.

The new rail line is likely to be commissioned by March 2019 and the revised project cost is estimated at ₹ 2,500 million. The Railways have spent ₹ 1,690 million while the state government has helped with land acquisition and other costs.
