TSGENCO (Telangana State Power Generation Co) is planning to set up a 4000 (5 x 800 MW ) ultra mega power project in Veerapalem in Damarcherla in Nalagonda district of Telangana. Land required for the project has been allotted by the state government. However, allotment of land would be subject to the fulfilment of conditions such as legal status compensatory afforestation over the non-forest land, equal in extent to the forest land being diverted, shall be raised and maintained by the State Forest Department from the funds to be provided by TSGENCO.
As of November 2017, the project has been named as TSGENCO Yadadri Power Project. It involves setting up of 5 x 800 MW supercritical thermal power plant.
